Nominations are now open for the 2026 Civic Awards – help us recognize people, organizations, and businesses that make a difference in our community

Help us recognize people, organizations, and businesses that give their time and energy to make Port Moody a better place – nominate a deserving candidate today for a 2026 Civic Award. Visit portmoody.ca/civicawards for nomination criteria and online nomination forms. Paper application forms are available at City Hall (100 Newport Drive) and the Recreation Complex (300 Ioco Road).
“The Civic Awards program is an opportunity for the City to recognize and thank the people in our community who work tirelessly to improve the lives of others in countless different ways,” says Mayor Meghan Lahti. “Volunteers, advocates, coaches, athletes, mentors, businesses, and non-profit groups – they all put time and effort into making Port Moody an even better place and they are the foundation of our vibrant community. If you know someone who has made a meaningful contribution, I encourage you to nominate them today.”
The City is seeking nominations for eight awards in six categories. Nominations will be accepted until Monday, June 1, 2026 for the following award:
- Sports Award (Youth) recognizes a youth aged 12 to 19 whose exceptional contributions have furthered the growth, reputation, and/or character of sport through sport administration, coaching, officiating, and participation.
Nominations will be accepted until Friday, July 19, 2026 for the following seven awards:
- Peter Hulbert Accessibility Award honours an individual, organization, or business that has contributed to the removal of barriers for individuals with accessibility needs or the promotion of inclusivity (i.e. welcoming all people to participate in all aspects of community life) in Port Moody;
- Arts Award celebrates an individual, organization, or business that significantly contributes to, and participates in, the artistic and/or cultural life of Port Moody;
- Climate Action Award recognizes individuals, community groups, schools, organizations, and businesses who advance the goals and objectives of the City’s Climate Action Plan;
- Environmental Award (Adult) recognizes outstanding accomplishments and contributions that advance environmental preservation, increase awareness, and support climate change action;
- Environmental Award (Youth) recognizes a youth aged 12 to 19 for outstanding accomplishments and contributions that advance environmental preservation, increase awareness, and support climate change action;
- Heritage Award honours an individual, organization, or business that advances heritage conservation in Port Moody through special initiatives or projects that preserve, rehabilitate, restore, or create awareness of a cultural resource; and
- Sports Award (Adult) recognizes exceptional contributions that have furthered the growth, reputation, and/or character of sport through sport administration, coaching, officiating, and participation.
The Civic Awards are presented every two years to deserving people, organizations, and businesses that have made significant contributions to the community. Civic committees review nominations and forward recommendations to Council for consideration and final decision. The winners of the 2026 Civic Awards will be announced in January 2027.
