Groundbreaking ceremony marks start of construction for Inlet Park Community Fieldhouse

The community fieldhouse, located within Inlet Park at 3024 Murray Street, is the third and final phase of the Inlet Park Redevelopment Project. The new three-storey structure will include:
- changerooms, public gender-neutral and universal washrooms, concession space, and storage on the ground floor;
- multi-purpose space that can be used for both City and public events and programming, catering kitchen, washrooms, and indoor viewing space on the second floor; and
- office/meeting spaces, washrooms, and outdoor covered viewing deck with bleachers on the third floor.
The design for the building strives to achieve leading sustainability and energy efficiency targets as well as third party accessibility certification. For more information on the design, please refer to City staff’s June 25, 2024 report to Council (agenda item 11.1).
The City prioritized $1 million of the Government of B.C.’s Growing Communities Fund to the Inlet Park Community Fieldhouse. In 2023, the Province provided the $1-billion Growing Communities Fund, the largest single investment ever made to all local governments in B.C., to support infrastructure and amenities in growing communities.
During construction, which is anticipated to take 18 months, all efforts will be made to keep Inlet Park open for users while minimizing periods of disruption. The number of parking stalls will be affected at times. However, staff will work with the contractor on an ongoing basis to minimize the impact on parking, while ensuring the parking lot is safe for contractors and the public. Project funding also includes $750,000 from the Rotary Club of Port Moody through a contribution agreement with the City.
