Teens ages 13-15 who would like to use the weight room will need to get a teen weight room card and then purchase a membership or drop-in pass. If you are 16 years and older you can train in the weight room and use the walking track at any time as long as you have a pass.

Teens of any age are welcome to use the weight room at any time and attend all fitness classes, including yoga, spinning, and all registered fitness programs. 

Weight room orientation

If you are 13-15, you must complete a weight room orientation before you can use our facilities. Throughout the school year, you can stop by at any time to complete the orientation. 

During the orientation, we will show you the facility and provide tips on how to use and treat our equipment. After you have completed the orientation, you will receive a Blue Teen Weight Room card that will give you access to the weight room.

Your parents will need to create a family recreation account and complete the teen orientation paperwork before your orientation.

Summer orientation times

From June to September, we offer regularly scheduled teen orientations. These take place daily at 10:30am, 2:30pm, and 7:30pm. We only accept seven participants at a time on a first come, first served basis.

Etiquette and equipment usage guidelines

  • All patrons must adhere to Facility Code of Conduct
  • Wristbands must be worn for proof of admission
  • Proper athletic clothing and footwear must be worn at all times
  • Observe the posted Par-Q form questionnaire
  • Patrons with medical concerns are to advise weight room staff
  • Refrain from yelling, using profanity, banging weights or making loud sounds
  • Wipe sweat off all equipment, mats and the floor
  • Do not sit on machines between sets
  • Chalk is not permitted
  • Food or drink (except water) are not permitted
  • Glass bottles are not permitted
  • Talking on cell phones is not permitted
  • Lockers are available in the change rooms to secure valuables
  • The City of Port Moody is not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen articles

 

Equipment Usage

  • Avoid dropping weights
  • Return all equipment to its proper location
  • Please observe the cardio equipment sign-up sheet procedure and limit time to 25 minutes
  • Always use collars to secure plates onto bar and a spotter for bench presses when using plates
  • Wipe down equipment after use
