Focused on themes such as climate justice, mental health and wellness, social connectedness, and youth spaces, the summit seeks to empower youth voices, foster collaboration, and inform future policy decisions.

Join local youth, city officials, and community stakeholders on October 25, 2024, at the Inlet Theatre and Galleria for an inspiring day dedicated to exploring these important topics, sharing insights, and building connections. Are you a creative young individual with a passion for design? Do you want to make your mark on the Port Moody community? Then you've come to the right place! We're thrilled to announce the launch of the Mayor's Youth Summit Logo Design Contest, an opportunity for talented youth like you to showcase your artistic skills and contribute to a meaningful event. The winning design will become the official logo of the summit and receive a $250 VISA gift card.

About the Contest:

The Mayor's Youth Summit Logo Design Contest invites individuals currently enrolled in grades 7 to 11 residing in Port Moody or attending school in Port Moody to create the official logo for the upcoming Mayor's Youth Summit. We're looking for designs that capture the essence of the summit's main themes, including climate justice, mental health and wellness, social connectedness, and youth spaces. Your design will be be featured on promotional materials, websites, and social media channels, making you a part of this exciting event!

How to Participate:

Eligibility: The contest is open to individuals currently enrolled in grades 7 to 11 residing in Port Moody or attending school in Port Moody. Proof of age, school attendance, or residency may be required. Additionally, City of Port Moody staff, council members, youth focus committee members, and their family members residing in the same household are not eligible to enter the contest. 

Submission Guidelines:

  1. Original Creations: All entries must be original creations.

  2. Prominent Text: Designs must prominently feature the text "Mayor's Youth Summit."

  3. Digital Format: Submissions should be in digital format, preferably .AI or .EPS for vector-based designs, and also accepted in JPEG, PNG, or PDF formats.

  4. Description: Provide a brief description of the design concept.

  5. One Entry per Participant: Each participant may submit only one entry.

  6. Parental Consent Form: Applicants must have their parent or guardian complete the Mayor's Youth Summit Logo Contest Parental Consent Form. The completed PDF form should be submitted along with the design entry through the online form.

  7. Submission: Entries must be submitted through an online form

Theme and Concept: Designs should reflect the main themes of the Mayor's Youth Summit, including climate justice, mental health and wellness, social connectedness, and youth spaces. Creative interpretations of these themes are encouraged.

Submission Period: The contest begins on April 8 and ends on May 3 at 6:00 PM Pacific Time. Late entries will not be accepted.

Judging Criteria:

  1. Entries will be judged based on creativity, originality, relevance to the themes, and overall aesthetic appeal.

  2. The use of clip art, stock images, or any pre-existing artwork is not permitted. All elements of the design must be original and created solely by the participant.

Prize:

  1. The winning design will be selected as the official logo for the 2024 Mayor's Youth Summit.

  2. The winner will receive a $250 VISA gift card.

    • Winning designs will be featured on promotional materials, websites, or social media channels with appropriate credit given to the creator.
  8. Submission Process:

    • Entries must be submitted through an online form with all required information filled out, including uploading the completed Parental Consent Form along with their logo design entry.
  9. Rights:

    • By entering the contest, participants grant the City of Port Moody the right to use, reproduce, and modify the winning design for promotional purposes related to the Mayor's Youth Summit.
  10. Indemnification:

    • Participants are solely responsible for any claims or disputes arising from the unauthorized use of copyrighted material in their submissions. By entering the contest, participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless the organizers from any liability.
  11. Originality Requirement:

    • All submissions must be original creations of the entrants. Plagiarism or the use of copyrighted material, including images, logos, or symbols, is strictly prohibited.
  12. Right to Modify or Cancel:

    • The City of Port Moody reserves the right to modify, extend, or cancel the contest at any time, for any reason, without prior notice.

 

*Note: The Port Moody Youth Summit will be held in October 2024, at the beginning of the next school year. Attendees are expected to be in grades 8 to 12 at the time of the event. To ensure that contest participants will be eligible to attend the summit, the contest is open to students currently in grades 7 to 11. This ensures that youth in grade 12, who won't be attending high school anymore and therefore won't be eligible to attend the event, do not enter the contest.
