Rocky Point Boat Launch

Residents and visitors can launch boats from Rocky Point Park located at 2800 Murray St. daily from dawn to dusk with the purchase of a boat launch pass. We recommend that you arrive early in the day because parking will fill up quickly, especially during the summer months. 

Daily boat launch passes

Boaters can purchase a daily pass for boat launch, retrieval, and parking for $40.00 plus tax from the ticket dispenser near the boat ramp with a credit card only.

Annual boat launch passes

Annual boat launch passes are purchased at the Recreation Complex by phoning 604.469.4556 or by sending us an email at recreation@portmoody.ca. In-person purchases are also available. Each resident is only eligible for one boat launch pass per year. Annual boat launch passes are valid January 1- December 31 and will not be pro-rated based on purchase date.

2024 Annual passes cost:

  • $285.00 + tax for Port Moody residents
  • $500.00 + tax for non-residents

To get the resident rate you must provide your:

  • driver's license (license and registration need to match) 
  • vehicle registration

Kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards

A boat launch pass is not required to launch kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards from the boat launch. These watercraft can be dropped off at the sidewalk along the west side of the Boathouse Restaurant at Esplanade and carried to the boat launch. There is 15-minute parking along Esplanade for this purpose.

Boat launch and parking closures

The boat launch may be closed and/or have limited parking during special events or city maintenance. Boat Launch pass holders will receive email communication in advance of any closure(s).

2024 Boat launch closures:

Saturday, March 2 Boat Launch (dock and ramp) closure from 10am-2pm for the Polar Plunge.

Saturday, April 20 Full closure of the boat launch parking lot and launch from 5am-7pm for the Inlet Spring Regatta.

Parking at Rocky Point

Always check the posted signage before parking. Vehicle and trailer parking is available in the following areas:

  • Rocky Point Boat Launch
  • behind Pajo's Fish and Chips
  • along Esplanade Avenue and Murray Street (Starting September 16, 2024, pay parking and a four-hour time limit will be in effect on Esplanade Avenue and parts of Murray Street. However, a valid boat launch ticket or pass will allow a vehicle with a boat trailer to park in a designated boat trailer area on Esplanade or Murray without paying additional parking fees. In this case, the four-hour time limit would not apply. The valid ticket/pass must be displayed on the vehicle’s front dashboard.)
  • weekends only - overflow parking for the boat launch is available at the West Coast Express Parking Lot. This will require an additional parking ticket from the WCE ticket machine.

You must display your boat launch and/or parking pass in your vehicle, on the front dashboard.
