Know before you go

The Recreation Complex is open to the public Monday to Friday from 6:00am to 10:00pm and Saturday to Sunday 8:00am to 9:00pm. The front desk office closes half an hour before the facility closes, each day. The steam room and hot tub will also be open during these times.

Proof of vaccination

As of September 13, 2021, proof of vaccination is required to participate in indoor adult fitness and sport programs or activities at civic facilities, by order of the Provincial Health Officer.  

People aged 12 and older who wish to participate in indoor adult fitness and sport programs or activities – including use of the weight room and adult skating and hockey activities – will be asked to show proof of vaccination and a piece of valid government photo identification such as a B.C. driver’s licence, BC Services Card, or passport.

By order of the PHO, people aged 12 and older must show proof of vaccination for access to:

  • most indoor adult fitness and sport programs or activities (including skating/ice sports) with the exception of the hot tub
  • the weight room and walking track at the Recreation Complex (300 Ioco Road)
  • indoor organized events with more than 50 people
  • spectators at indoor youth sporting events with more than 50 people
  • indoor ticketed sporting events with more than 50 people
  • indoor organized adult group recreational classes and activities with more than 50 people
  • indoor concerts, theatre, and dance events with more than 50 people 

If you are unable to provide the required documentation you will not be allowed to participate. Proof of vaccination will not be required for preschool, children, and youth programs.

 Face masks
Per the Public Health Order, face masks are required in all public indoor settings for people 9 and older, regardless of vaccination status.

How to prepare and where to go

All program participants will now check in at their respective program locations. While designated entrances are no longer in place, please enter through the nearest entrance to your program location.

 Ice Sports
  • please review skate program expectations
  • please review public skating rules and regulations
  • children (and parents) are encouraged to use the washroom before leaving home and sanitize hands upon entering the building
  • you may now enter and exit the arenas through the main Arena doors
  • parents are permitted in the arena and may watch from the ice level or the A1 stands (A2 stands remain closed) 
  • in case of an emergency, parents/guardians are required to remain close to the arena
 Fitness & Personal Training

While designated entrances are no longer in place, please enter through the nearest entrance to your program location. Please adhere to the following:

  • arrive 5 to 10 minutes before your start time, late entry will not be permitted
  • bring your own mat, water bottle and towel
  • spin class participants check in at spin studio entrance
  • yoga class participants check in at the indoor wellness room entrance
  • aerobics class participants check in at the indoor aerobics studio entrance
  • walking track guests please enter through the main entrance

Personal Training

  • arrive 5 minutes before your scheduled training session
  • meet your trainer in the weight room
  • bring your own mat, towel and water bottle
Preschool Recreation

While designated entrances are no longer in place, please enter through the nearest entrance to your program location. Please adhere to the following:

  • please arrive on time
  • parent participation is one child and one parent only, a baby in a stroller or carrier is okay as long as they are not mobile
  • children are encouraged to bring a full water bottle
Children's Recreation

While designated entrances are no longer in place, please enter through the nearest entrance to your program location. Please adhere to the following:

  • please arrive on time
  • children are encouraged to bring a full water bottle
  • please ensure children are dressed in appropriate clothing for the weather and activity

 Youth Recreation

While designated entrances are no longer in place, please enter through the nearest entrance to your program location. Please adhere to the following:

  • please arrive on time
  • check in will take place within the program space/location
  • youth drop-in gym and youth lounge drop-in no longer require online registration. Drop-in fee will be collected at the front desk at check-in.

Special note for RAD Nights – Youth Out-trips:

  • meet at the Youth Lounge 5-10 minutes before the registered start time
  • youth should be prepared to travel on public transit (no additional fee)

Adult Recreation

DROP-IN

  • Registration required Pickleball 4 times per week. Tuesday and Thursday are for intermediate to advanced play. Wednesday and Friday are for beginners.
    • Tuesday and Thursday will be staffed with Stefan U and Wednesday and Friday with Cathy E
    • Cost is $5.00/visit (regardless of length of time)
  • We have two Walking Soccer timeslots - Wednesday and Friday, registration required
    • Cost is $4.00/visit
  • We have Wheelchairs Sports on Wednesday evening from 7:00-8:00 staffed.
    • Cost is $4.00/visit

REGISTERED SPORTS 

All are register by month, no option to drop in. Double play allowed, court rotation encouraged.

  • Wednesday - Floor Hockey
  • Thursday - Badminton and (NEW) Pickleball 
 Senior Recreation

Drop-in Programs

  • Super senior admission pass now available
  • Booking is highly recommended to guarantee a spot, drop-ins will be allowed if space permits.
  • Classes can be booked using our online booking system, or by calling (604)469-4556 during office hours.
  • Booking opens 25 hours prior to each class.
