Proof of vaccination required to participate in indoor adult fitness and sport programs

Starting September 13, 2021, you will need to show proof of vaccination to participate in indoor adult fitness and sport programs or activities at civic facilities, by order of the Provincial Health Officer (PHO).
The Province has introduced the BC Vaccine Card, which will be the only acceptable proof of vaccination after September 26, 2021. Up to and including September 26, you may show other forms of proof such as an immunization record card provided by a pharmacy or vaccine clinic. Please visit the B.C. government’s website for more information.
People aged 22 and older who wish to participate in indoor adult fitness and sport programs or activities – including use of the weight room and walking track at the Recreation Complex (300 Ioco Road) – will be asked to show proof of vaccination and a piece of valid government photo identification such as a B.C. driver’s licence, BC Services Card, or passport. If you are unable to provide the required documentation you will not be allowed to participate. Proof of vaccination will not be required for preschool, children, and youth programs.
Arena user groups will be responsible for verifying proof of vaccination for participants and spectators for indoor adult group and team sports as per the PHO order. Please note, according to information provided by the Province, proof of vaccination is not required for indoor youth recreational sport for people 21 years old or younger.
If you plan to participate in one of our indoor adult fitness or sport programs, please arrive early to allow time for the check-in process. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding as we all adjust to this new requirement. If you have a question, please email us at recreation@portmoody.ca or give us a call at 604-469-4556. The procedures for checking vaccine cards and identification will be updated as needed to reflect any changes made to the order by the Provincial Health Officer.
For civic facility rentals including the Inlet Theatre (100 Newport Drive), the organizer of an event will be responsible for verifying proof of vaccination as per the PHO order. You will not be required to show proof of vaccination to do business at City Hall service counters or visit the Port Moody Public Library.
The Provincial Health Officer has ordered that, starting September 13, 2021, you must have at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine to access some events, services, and businesses. By October 24, you must be fully vaccinated. The requirement will be in place until January 31, 2022 and could be extended. Please visit the B.C. government’s website to learn more about places where your vaccine card is required for entry.
Visitors to civic facilities are reminded that people aged 12 years and older must wear masks in indoor public settings, regardless of vaccination status, by order of the Provincial Health Officer. This includes common areas of sport and fitness centres when not engaged in physical activity.
