The City of Port Moody will host an open house at City Hall (100 Newport Drive) on May 28, 2018 from 4 to 7pm, to obtain feedback on alternatives to the present right-of-way in Bert Flinn Park as a potential route that could connect the Ioco Lands to Inlet Centre. 

If the Ioco Lands area is developed in the future, and if rezoning is considered to allow extra density, then a connector route may be required to help accommodate any corresponding increase in traffic levels. 

In 2016, Council directed City staff to prepare a technical report that investigates and evaluates all transportation options for a potential connector route, and to review the identified options with residents and stakeholders. A draft technical report is now ready for review, and the City will share its findings at the open house and seek feedback from Port Moody residents. Residents will have the chance to learn about the transportation options identified in the draft technical report, ask questions, and share their thoughts with Council via a feedback form. 

Residents who are unable to attend the open house can view the draft technical report and the display boards, and fill out the feedback form, online at portmoody.ca/ioco starting May 28, 2018. All forms must be submitted by June 18, 2018. 

Council asked staff to prepare the technical report and conduct the public consultation to help inform their decision-making when they re-visit the following motion (deferred on September 13, 2016): “THAT the road right-of-way bisecting Bert Flinn Park no longer be designated a road right-of-way; and that the land of the road right-of-way bisecting Bert Flinn Park be incorporated into Bert Flinn Park as a recreation component and service access.” 

Feedback collected from the public and stakeholders will be presented to Council for their consideration in July 2018.
