Looking for a dose of culture? The City of Port Moody hosts its first ever Day of Arts on Saturday, September 26 and we want you there! This free afternoon of music, theatre, art and literature will showcase the amazing talent in our city.

  • Stroll through the tents of ten visual artists, who will demonstrate their work and sell their wares.
  • Watch performances by local musicians, bands, dancers and theatre groups throughout the afternoon.
  • Sample treats from The Burrard Public House, Caffé Divano, Freshii and Mega Donair.
  • Stop by the Port Moody Public Library between 1-3pm and step into a van Gogh-inspired cafe. Enjoy a warming cup of tea and find your new favorite book!

There will also be interactive and fun cultural activities for the whole family:

  • If you’re an aspiring maestro, we’ll have a public piano decked out with art ready for you to play.
  • Grab a stick of chalk and express yourself on our community chalk board (or the sidewalk outside of City Hall!)
  • Take part of our Community Art Project. Decorate a fabric square with your favourite things about arts and culture, and artist Sylvie Roussel-Janssens will suspend your creation on a large metal grid at City Hall.

When: Saturday, September 26
Where: Port Moody City Hall Galleria and Traffic Circle, 100 Newport Drive
Time: 12pm-5pm
Admission: Free!

Day of Arts is part of Culture Days. Culture Days is a collaborative Canada-wide, volunteer movement to raise awareness, participation and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. Since 2010, on the last weekend in September, thousands of artists, organizations and communities have offered hands-on, interactive activities that invite the public to participate “behind the scenes,” to discover the world of arts and culture... and one of the best parts of Culture Days is that everything is free!
