In fall 2023, the Province passed a series of legislation aimed at enabling increased residential density in BC communities. As part of the Homes for People Action Plan, the Province enacted 2023 Housing Statutes (Residential Development) Amendment Act, Bill 44.  Bill 44 pertains to Small-Scale Multi-Unit Housing (SSMUH) and necessitates amendments to Port Moody’s Zoning Bylaw to include the SSMUH requirements by June 30, 2024.

At the Special Council meeting on June 18, 2024, City of Port Moody Zoning Bylaw, 2018, No. 2937, Amendment Bylaw No. 94, 2024, No. 3460 (SSMUH) will be presented to Council for consideration of first, second and third readings. Pursuant to section 464(4) of the Local Government Act, a Public Hearing will not be held.
