National postal strike affects City’s letter mail communications with residents and businesses

The City of Port Moody is advising residents and businesses that a national postal strike, in effect as of November 15, 2024, will affect communications sent by the City of Port Moody via letter mail to residents and businesses.
Canada Post has indicated that their operations across the country will be shut down for the duration of the strike. This means Port Moody residents and businesses may experience delays in receiving notices and other types of correspondence from the City. Here are a few examples of letter mail that may be affected:
- metered utility bills and amended utility bills
- utility and property tax payment reminders
- 2025 City Calendar and Waste Collection Schedule (available online in December)
- fall/winter edition of the Port Moody Focus newsletter (available online in December)
- postcard inviting residents to apply to volunteer on a civic committee by November 30, 2024 (portmoody.ca/committees)
Please note that for any outstanding balances related to your City accounts, fees, penalties, or daily interest may apply. Manage your accounts online by signing up for myPortMoody, our online service where you can select e-billing and see current and past bills, plus view your application history and submit additional documents to support current applications. Use our online payment system for business or dog licences, engineering and building permit applications, and utility and property tax bills.
Statutory public notices as required by legislation (e.g. public hearing notices and planning notices) will continue to be distributed per City bylaws. This includes:
- postcards delivered to select addresses (where applicable)
- news items with email to subscribers: portmoody.ca/news (sign up to receive City news)
