Early voting opportunities available for Port Moody residents in advance of by-election
Early voting opportunities are available for residents who can’t get to the polls on general voting day, September 30, for Port Moody’s 2017 by-election.
Advance polls will be open at the Port Moody Recreation Complex (300 Ioco Road) from 8am to 8pm on September 20 and September 23, 2017.
Residents can also vote via a mail-in ballot, which can be picked up at City Hall (100 Newport Drive) during regular office hours (8:30am to 5pm, Monday through Friday) until September 29, or extended office hours (8am to 8pm) on September 18, 19, 21, and 22, 2017. Completed ballots can be returned by mail, or dropped off at City Hall. All mail-in ballots must be received by the Chief Election Officer no later than 8pm on September 30, 2017. Residents can also request a mail-in ballot by calling 604.469.4603, or by emailing dshermer@portmoody.ca.
To be eligible to vote, a person must be:
- 18 years of age or older on general voting day;
- a Canadian citizen;
- a resident of B.C. for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration; and
- a resident of the City of Port Moody for at least 30 days immediately before the day of registration.
If residents are not on the provincial voters’ list, they may register at the time of voting by completing the required application form available at each polling station. They must show two (2) pieces of identification (at least one with a signature) to prove residency and identity.
General voting day is September 30, 2017. Three polling stations will be open from 8am to 8pm: Port Moody Recreation Complex (300 Ioco Road), Heritage Mountain Community Centre (200 Panorama Place), and Glenayre Community Centre (492 Glencoe Drive).
