Join the City of Port Moody and communities worldwide in turning off unnecessary lights and electronics for this year’s Earth Hour, on Saturday, March 19th from
8:30-9:30pm.

Earth Hour is an annual event that encourages individuals, households and communities to use less energy and take action to address climate change.

Participation is easy! Simply:

  1. Register your support online;
  2. Encourage your family, friends and colleagues to participate, and use social media to spread the word; and
  3. Most importantly, unplug electronics and turn off your lights for at least one hour on Saturday, March 19th from 8:30 to 9:30pm.

Collective action to unplug for one hour can lead to real savings. Last year, Earth Hour action in Port Moody reduced energy by 1% and directly resulted in cost savings. Action across the province saved 15 megawatt hours of electricity - the equivalent of turning off 680,000 LED light bulbs.

During Earth Hour 2016, the City of Port Moody will once again be turning off all non-essential lights and equipment in its civic facilities, and will continue to conserve energy and work against climate change throughout the year. Let’s work together to take action all year round!
