City of Port Moody welcomes new general manager of planning and development
The City of Port Moody is pleased to announce that André Boel is the new general manager of planning and development, effective December 4, 2017.
Boel has more than 20 years of experience in the field of planning. He began his career in the Netherlands, where he held several planning-related positions, including at the City of Amsterdam where he worked on urban renewal projects and master-planned communities. In 2006, Boel immigrated to Canada and worked as a community planner for the District of Sechelt. Boel will leave his current role as director of planning for the Town of Gibsons, where he has led a variety of important projects.
“We are excited to welcome Mr. Boel to the City of Port Moody,” says Mayor Mike Clay. “With his experience and expertise in planning, and his leadership skills, André will be a great asset to our city at a time when many critical planning initiatives are underway or are being considered.”
"I very much appreciate the opportunity to work for the City of Port Moody at this moment in time of the City's development,” says Boel. “I am looking forward to collaborating with Council, staff, community members, and developers on managing the changes that Port Moody is experiencing."
Boel studied at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, and has obtained his Local Government Administration Certificate from Capilano University in North Vancouver. Upon commencing his new role in Port Moody, Boel will lead a team providing services in the areas of planning, development, and building, bylaws, and licencing.
