The City of Port Moody and the Golden Spike Days Society are pleased to announce Canadian rock legend Trooper as the headline performer for Canada 150 celebrations on July 1, 2017 at the Golden Spike Days Festival in Rocky Point Park.

“Trooper is about as Canadian as you can get, and a great headliner for our Canada Day celebration,” said Mayor Mike Clay. “Rocky Point Park will be the place to be on Canada Day, with residents taking in great hits from the 70s and 80s like ‘The Boys in the Bright White Sports Car,’ ‘Round, Round We Go,’ and ‘3 Dressed Up as a 9.’ Be sure to save the date for some great family entertainment, wrapping up with a spectacular fireworks display as we celebrate our country’s 150th birthday. We are, indeed, here for a good time.”

“In cooperation with the City of Port Moody, the Golden Spike Days Society is pleased to be involved in presenting one of Canada's iconic bands, Trooper, and the return of fireworks to celebrate Canada 150,” said Patti Matwiv, president of the Golden Spike Days Society. “Our volunteer committee is hard at work preparing for the Golden Spike Days Festival, June 30th to July 3rd, which will feature entertainment, a fun run, children's activities, and more.”

Trooper will take the stage at 9pm, and the fireworks display over the Inlet will get started at approximately 10:30pm. For more information on the 2017 Golden Spike Days Festival, please visit goldenspike.ca

Trooper released their first album in 1975, and would go on to have a string of hits in Canada, including “We’re Here for a Good Time,” “Two for the Show,” and “Raise a Little Hell.” The band’s ten studio albums have earned multiple gold and platinum awards, and their six times Platinum greatest hits compilation, Hot Shots, continues to be one of Universal Music Canada's best-selling catalog CDs. Trooper was founded by Ra McGuire (vocals) and Brian Smith (guitar). Scott Brown (guitar), Gogo (keyboard), and Clayton Hill (drums) round out the band.

The City of Port Moody is presenting Trooper followed by fireworks to mark Canada 150, a cross-country celebration of the 150th anniversary of Confederation. Click here to learn more about Canada’s sesquicentennial.
