The City of Port Moody and the Golden Spike Days Society are pleased to announce JUNO Award winners Barney Bentall and the Legendary Hearts will be the headline performer on Canada Day – July 1, 2018 – at Golden Spike Days in Rocky Point Park.

Barney Bentall and the Legendary Hearts burst onto the Canadian music scene in 1988 with a self-titled first album, which went on to sell more than 100,000 copies. The album included the singles “Come Back to Me,” “The House of Love (Is Haunted),” and their biggest hit, “Something to Live For.” Next came the albums Lonely Avenue (1990) and Ain’t Life Strange (1992), which both produced several top 10 radio singles. Between 1988 and 1994, the band toured constantly and performed more than 150 shows a year.

After the release of a greatest hits compilation in 1996 and a Canadian tour in 1997, the band took a break and each member pursued separate musical endeavors. Barney Bentall has released four solo albums – his most recent effort, The Drifter & The Preacher, was released in 2017 – and has worked on a number of musical projects, including bluegrass band The High Bar Gang, the BTU Trio, and the Cariboo Express. With more than 250,000 records sold and 20 top 30 singles, Barney Bentall and the Legendary Hearts still get together from time to time to play shows across the country.

On July 1, 2018, the City of Port Moody presents Barney Bentall and the Legendary Hearts (Mike Crozier, Jack Guppy, Colin Nairne, and Dave Reimer) for a set of great music starting at 9pm at the Golden Spike Days Festival in Rocky Point Park.
