Attend a free information session on elder abuse to learn how to protect yourself or your loved ones

Port Moody Police Victim Services, Fraser Health, and the City of Port Moody invite you to attend Keeping Seniors Safe and Informed, a free presentation and discussion on elder abuse, at Inlet Theatre (100 Newport Drive) on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 from 10am to 12pm

According to information provided on the Government of Canada’s website, one in five Canadians believes they know of an older adult who might be experiencing some form of abuse. Elder abuse is any action or lack of action (i.e. neglect) by someone in a relationship of trust that results in harm or distress to an older person. Elder abuse can be physical, psychological, or financial; it can be a single incident or a repeated pattern of behaviour; and often, more than one type of abuse happens at the same time.

At the November 12 information session, you will:

  • hear from a local resident who will share their own experience with elder abuse;
  • learn how to identify the signs and symptoms of abuse; and
  • learn about steps you can take to protect yourself and/or your loved ones.

Light refreshments will be served. Please register to reserve your spot. Visit portmoody.ca/recreation to register online, or call 604-469-4556. For more information, please contact Malia Pawson at 604-469-4512.
