In Port Moody, we promote the Naturescape B.C. program and the integration of wildlife habitat on private property. Naturescaping focuses on the use of native plants. Native plants provide food and shelter for wildlife and are adapted to our local climate, soils, predators, pollinators, and diseases.

Naturescape Policy

The City's Naturescape Policy identifies principles that we apply to all publically-owned lands. Naturescape principles and native plants are required on re-developed private property that is located adjacent to or within Environmentally Sensitive Areas. We also encourage responsible lawn care and maintenance. Our Pesticide Use Control Bylaw regulates the use of pesticides on private and public property. You can refer to the City's Climate Resilient Landscaping Standards for best practices on plant selection and garden design for biodiversity and sustainability.
