There are a variety of volunteer opportunities in the City. Becoming a volunteer is an excellent way to gain experience working with the public, it can teach you new skills, and you will make a difference in your community.

Join the Advisory Design Panel

The Advisory Design Panel was reinstated by Council in Fall 2020.  The Panel’s purpose is to advise the General Manager of Community Development and/or City Council on certain development applications as specified in the Development Approval Procedures Bylaw 2011, No. 2918 with regards to aspects of architectural and urban design, and fit with location and site context.

Join a committee

Port Moody has a variety of different committees and boards with positions available for the general public. Review all of our committees and get involved in your local government.

Citizen Advisory Group

The Citizen Advisory Group (CAG) is made up of more than 250 Port Moody residents of all ages who volunteer their time to provide input on City issues. Council seeks feedback from the CAG on a variety of topics, from budgets and master plans to new City projects and community development. We are not accepting applications for the CAG at this time.

Volunteer in recreation

To volunteer in recreation, you will need to:

You can choose to volunteer in one of the following areas in recreation:

  • programs for preschool, children, or youth
  • programs for adults and seniors
  • aquatics
  • ice sports and ice skating programs
  • city wide special events
  • recreation ambassador (offer general assistance at the Recreation Complex)
