In Port Moody, we believe it's important to preserve our heritage. That's why we manage a Heritage Register and include heritage conservation areas in our Official Community Plan. Formal protection of a heritage property can be achieved through a heritage designation bylaw.

During redevelopment, heritage can also be protected through heritage revitalization agreements (HRAs) and heritage alteration permits (HAPs). If your property is located in a heritage conservation area, you'll need to follow specific design guidelines.

If you're renovating or doing maintenance work on a heritage property, you may qualify for a Heritage Revitalization Tax Exemption. We also encourage heritage protection through our heritage bylaws.

The Heritage Strategic Plan provides direction for heritage planning and protection. This document informs the workplan of our Heritage Commission.
