The big reveal

We invite everyone to stop by the Port Moody Recreation Complex to check out FamiLEAF, a community art engagement project, in celebration of Culture Days. FamiLEAF will be on display from September 24 to October 24.

The community was invited to design a wooden maple leaf. The shape of the leaf is special in that it can make a tessellation - a pattern of a repeated shape that fits perfectly together like a puzzle. The name of the piece was born from the idea that everyone in the community is part of one big family, and that we are all connected. The maple leaf shape is also a nod to Fall when Culture Days place, and a symbol of Canada.

FamiLEAF was also presented during Art at Council at the September 28, 2021 Regular Council meeting.

How to get your maple leaf back

If you submitted a maple leaf, you'll be able to pick it up on Saturday, October 30 from 10:30am - 2pm outside in front of the Port Moody Public Library.  A magnet will be affixed to the back of your maple leaf so we encourage you to display your artwork on your fridge, or give it away as a gift!
