Hot Tub and Steam Room closed

Hot Tub and Steam Room closed Until Further Notice

UPDATE: March 7, 2018

We understand that this renovation has taken longer than anticipated. The following is an update on this project and the unusual circumstances that have delayed this project:

• There have been unexpected circumstances with the repair that were not known until after the demolition work began.

• As a result, the project had to be placed on hold to redesign substantial project elements to keep within the designated space and construction budget. Specifically upgrading the air handling equipment meant fitting much larger new equipment into the same small space.

The City is working actively with the contractor on completing the work as soon as possible.

While we know the spa downtime has been longer than anticipated when the spa is completed it will have new mechanical equipment, new glass and new finishes. The hot tub and steam room construction is anticipated to be completed in late May to early June.

The Hot Tub and Steam Room, located inside the Port Moody Recreation Complex, is closed for renovations until further notice.

We hope you’ll enjoy the planned improvements, including new glass and upgrades to the heating and cooling systems to prevent the windows from steaming up. The work also includes upgrades to the electrical system, new lighting, and a new ceiling.

The improvements to the Hot Tub and Steam Room are part of the City of Port Moody’s Civic Facilities Renewal Project, which involves significant repairs to the building envelopes for three facilities: the Recreation Complex, Civic Centre, and the Port Moody Arts Centre. The renovations are necessary to prevent further deterioration that would lead to higher repair or replacement costs.
