Art at Council April 25, 2017 - The Art of Heritage slideshow, various artists
In March of 2014 Belcarra South residents invited several artist groups to come and paint the Belcarra South cottages. The Passionate Outdoor Painters responded and were soon seen perched on stools and folding chairs amongst the ferns and salmonberries. In June of that year, the Port Moody Public Library exhibited many of their paintings, and in July many more paintings were part of an art show in the Port Moody Arts Centre. Other artists also continued to arrive to document the heritage cottages, as well as a documentary film crew.
Tonight’s slideshow represents just some of the paintings by the Passionate Outdoor Painters, as well as other artists from Port Moody, Belcarra, Burnaby, Vancouver, Steveston, Maple Ridge and Whitehorse.
The images are as different from each other as the artists are - realistic, impressionistic, exuberant and sometimes magical.
