The City of Port Moody will be conducting sewer system surveys from February 4, 2013 to late June, 2013. There may be minor delays to traffic throughout the project.
Affected residents have received a preliminary notice and will receive a second notification from the contractors one week before they start work in your specific neighborhood. Crews will be on your block for approximately two or three days using a variety of equipment and trucks that require traffic control. To provide a safe working environment for everyone, the contractor will direct traffic around the worksite.
If you have a sewer pipe at the back of your property, the contractor may need access to a manhole on your property. If so, City staff will meet with you in the near future to discuss access.
Maps of survey areas:
The sewer system survey is part of a city wide asset management project. The work will involve video camera inspections and vapour testing to assess the condition of the sewers. Video inspection of the sewers allows City engineers to identify problems and plan for maintenance and repair works. Video camera inspections are also useful in identifying issues in the sewer before they become more serious. Results from this project will help the City of Port Moody prioritize maintenance and any necessary repair works. Vapour testing will be completed to identify possible storm drains cross connected to the sanitary systems or breaks in the sewer that allow storm or ground water to enter the sanitary system.
