The Port Moody Team Action Plan is essentially a business plan that will guide us as we transform this current organization to an even higher performance level. It is not intended to be a static document. It is a dynamic template that will allow us to address continuous change and continually improve.
The strength of the Team Action Plan is directly linked to the strength of the employee teams. This plan, together with attracting and retaining the brightest, most creative, hardest working and most caring employees, ensures that we will meet the highest level of community expectations, moving our performance level from good to great.
When fully operational, the plan will redefine how the City provides the core services of local government while inspiring creative community leadership and encouraging innovation. Centered on a culture of sustainability, the plan will position the City for long-term success to benefit all we serve – current as well as future generations.
This is a starting point to transform local government services in Port Moody. It will ensure we optimize taxpayer and stakeholder contributions and investments. This initiative will exceed community expectations and allow us to continually realign the connection between the community, Council and staff.
The plan is based on Council’s Strategic Plan which they finalized in May 2012. It provides the roadmap for staff to implement Council’s direction and ensure that we:
- align resources
- streamline processes
- improve communications
- put in place long-term strategies & goals
- manage finances strategically, and
- hold ourselves accountable
The development of the Port Moody Team Action Plan involved significant research and consultation. It included input from the community, specific interest stakeholders, Council, industry experts, our unions, and management staff. The report considers local government best practices and provides a framework for the City of Port Moody to be a local government leader in the province.
Accountability will be a critical element to ensuring that we meet Council’s strategic priorities. The plan identifies achievable timelines to complete plans and projects that support Council priorities. Other methods of accountability include benchmarking, key performance indicators, and stakeholder surveys.
The over-arching goal is to take an already good organization and make it great. With the existing dedicated and competent staff, a visionary Council, and a dynamic and supportive community, the next few years will see a transformation in the way we deliver government services.
