Goal: Ensure accessibility for physically or otherwise challenged individuals
Objective: Ensure everyone, regardless of their abilities, can move about the community and access parks, facilities and programs on an equal basis
Action Items:
Þ Ensure that the universal accessibility considerations are included in park planning
Þ Review accessibility with the sustainability checklist, as part of the development review process
Þ Continue to support the mandate of the Community Care Committee to address accessibility issues
Þ Ensure that city facilities (buildings as well as street infrastructure) are planned and implemented with a view to universal accessibility.

Objective: Ensure residents and businesses feel safe in the community.
Action Items:
Þ Work in partnership with the Police Department to include CPTED and site safety reviews of facilities and parks.
Þ Encourage developers to incorporate Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design principles (CPTED) in all new developments and redevelopment projects.
Þ Continue to support the goals of Port Moody’s Police Department.

Objective: Ensure everyone, regardless of their age or family status, feels welcome and included in community planning and programs
Action Items:
Þ Continue to support the mandate of the Community Care Committee to address accessibility and services for young, old, singles and families

Goal: Include parks, meeting spaces and common spaces in development and redevelopment plans
Objective: Ensure new developments and redevelopments have a balanced approach to incorporating parks, meeting spaces and common spaces in their plans
Action Items:
Þ Continue to require common amenity spaces as part of new developments and redevelopments
Þ Analyze development applications to identify space needs, such as active or passive play areas and public open space
