Celebrate the holidays in Port Moody

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Port Moody has a variety of celebrations and activities that are sure to put you in a festive mood.

Here’s a list of holiday events happening in Port Moody:

Winter Farmers Market
Every Sunday until April 28, 2019, 10am-2pm (no market on Sunday, December 30, 2018)

Shop local this holiday season! The Port Moody Arts Centre presents the fifth annual Winter Treasures Artisan Market, a boutique-style show featuring locally handcrafted gifts, art, décor, and fine crafts suitable for holiday gift-giving.

Blackberry Gift Shop’s Christmas Marketplace

Come by this annual exhibition and sale to connect with your favourite local artists and purchase one-of-a-kind gifts, Christmas tree ornaments, collectibles, and fine art to suit every budget and wish list.

Holiday Cheer at the Pier
December 1, 2018, 6-8pm
Rocky Point Pier and Boat Launch (2800 block of Murray Street)

The City of Port Moody presents Holiday Cheer at the Pier, a free, outdoor event for all ages. Warm up with a hot chocolate, enjoy a sugar cookie, listen to carol singers, and ride the Candy Cane mini train. At 6:30pm, we’ll flip a switch to light up the pier and gazebo for all to enjoy. This festive illumination will light the way for our special guest, Santa Claus, who will visit with children in the gazebo, hand out candy canes, and pose for pictures. Port Moody Fire Rescue will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for their 2018 Toy Drive. Please consider making a donation, as all toys collected will go to SHARE Family and Community Services to help make the holidays a little brighter for families in need.

Amy Newman and the Christmas Revelers
Saturdays: December 1, 8, 22, 2018, 12-3pm
Sundays: December 16 and 23, 2018, 12-3pm

Amy Newman and the Christmas Revelers will wander through Newport Village, entertaining visitors and shoppers with songs of the season.

Suter Brook Village Winter Festival
December 6, 2018, 5-7pm
Suter Brook Village (corner of Ioco Road and Murray Street)

Take a ride on a horse-drawn carriage, have your picture taken with Santa, listen to live holiday music, and visit the Suter Brook retail tenants.

Port Moody Christmas Craft Fair
December 8, 2018, 10am-4pm
Civic Centre Galleria (100 Newport Drive)

Looking for unique gifts for family and friends? You’ll find them at the Port Moody Christmas Craft Fair. Head to the Galleria to browse handcrafted items from more than 40 local craft vendors, and enjoy festive snacks and entertainment. All proceeds from this event will be donated to SHARE Family and Community Services.

Ugly Christmas Sweater Dash
December 8, 2018, registration opens 10am, dash starts at 11am
Rocky Point Park (2800 block of Murray Street)

Celebrate the holidays by running or walking five kilometres in your favourite ugly Christmas sweater, or come to enjoy the holiday music, craft beer, and free family entertainment. This event is a fundraiser for the Make a Wish Foundation of Canada. Visit to register or find out more.

Looking for a fun, family activity over the holidays? Lace up the skates and take a whirl around the Recreation Complex rink! Our Santa Skate, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve skates are only $3.50 per person and you can enjoy hot chocolate and play games on the ice!

Christmas Tea on the Train
December 9 and 16, 2018, 10:30am, 1pm, and 2:30pm
Port Moody Station Museum (2734 Murray Street)

Climb aboard the decorated train car and enjoy Christmas tunes while staff serve you tea or hot chocolate, scones, and warm smiles. Tickets are $15 per adult and $10 per child (aged three to 12; kids aged two or younger are free). Reservations are required. Call 604-939-1648 or email to book a table.

CP Holiday Train Celebration
December 18, 2018, 5-8pm
Behind the Port Moody Recreation Complex (300 Ioco Road); Wellness Room, Port Moody Recreation Complex; and Civic Centre Galleria (100 Newport Drive)
Celebrate the CP Holiday Train with free activities for the whole family. Between 5 and 7pm, cozy up next a roaring bonfire, listen to live music, and grab a cup of hot chocolate, a bowl of chili, or a hot dog (behind the Recreation Complex). At 5:20pm, the CP Holiday Train will roll into Port Moody! Watch the big arrival and then get ready to sing along with the Sam Roberts Band, Kelly Prescott, Tracey Brown, and Tyson Venegas at 5:45pm. Decked out in thousands of lights, the CP Holiday Train travels across Canada during the holiday season to raise food and cash donations for local food banks. Your generous donation will stay right here in the Tri-Cities with SHARE Family and Community Services. Starting at 6:15pm, enjoy more live music, kids’ craft tables, cookie decorating, face painting, and popcorn in the Wellness Room at the Recreation Complex; and visit with Santa, the SHARE Bear, and Frosty in the Civic Centre Galleria, where you’ll find more kids’ craft tables and a selfie station.

Unveiling of Port Moody’s Canada 150 Mosaic Mural

The purpose of the Canada Mosaic Mural project was to celebrate our nation’s 150th birthday by creating 150 murals illustrating Canada’s cultural and geographical diversity. Port Moody’s Canada 150 Mosaic Mural, with tiles painted in 2017 by Port Moody residents of all ages, will be unveiled at the Port Moody Recreation Complex as part of the CP Holiday Train Celebration.

Celebrate the Season
December 18, 2018, 6:45pm and 7:30pm
Inlet Theatre (100 Newport Drive)
As part of the CP Holiday Train Celebration, the Port Moody Public Library invites you to Celebrate the Season at Inlet Theatre. Enjoy a special, family-friendly story time with carols, holiday stories, and our special guest, Pigeon! Seating is first come, first served. Non-perishable donations for local food banks will be gratefully accepted.

Penguin Plunge
January 1, 2019, registration opens at 11:30am, plunge at 1pm
Rocky Point Pier (2800 block of Murray Street)
Are you ready to take the plunge? Come on down and jump into the chilly waters of Burrard Inlet. This event, hosted annually by the Pleasantside Community Association, is a New Year’s Day tradition in Port Moody.

2019 Christmas Tree Chip
January 5 and 6, 2019, 9am-4pm
Inlet Centre Fire Hall (150 Newport Drive)

Help your local firefighters raise money for the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund while disposing of your Christmas tree. Members of Port Moody Firefighters Local 2399 are once again chipping trees, with all decorations removed of course! Can’t bring your tree to the Fire Hall? Email to learn more about a new tree pick-up service.

Centralized Recycling Day

If you have extra items for recycling after the holiday season, don’t miss the City’s Centralized Recycling Day! Drop off your paper gift wrap and boxes, plastic packaging, plastic film, and Styrofoam, and we’ll recycle it all for you, free of charge.
