Port Moody encourages residents to reduce, reuse, recycle with rain barrel and City-wide garage sales

rain barrelAs Earth Day draws near, the City of Port Moody is encouraging residents to reduce, reuse, and recycle by participating in two events: the annual Port Moody City-Wide Garage Sale, happening Saturday, April 22, 2017 at various locations; and the Tri-Cities Rain Barrel Truckload Sale, set for Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Coquitlam Public Works Yard.

Residents can reuse and recycle by searching for deals and taking home treasures April 22 at the City-Wide Garage Sale. More than 60 Port Moody homes are registered for the sale. Bargain hunters can find addresses and a map showing the location of participating households at portmoody.ca/garagesale. Please note start and finish times for garage sales will vary.

Residents can reduce their household water use by purchasing a rain barrel and harvesting rain water for their gardens. The Tri-Cities Rain Barrel Truckload Sale is open to Port Moody, Coquitlam, and Port Coquitlam residents. The barrels will be available for purchase at a discounted price of $55, including tax (with no limits and no proof of residency required).

Residents can pay for a rain barrel at the sale, with cash, cheque, debit, or credit card, or they can pre-pay online at enviroworld.ca/tri-cities and pick up on May 6.

Earth Day – Saturday, April 22 – marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. By reducing, reusing, and recycling, Port Moody residents are helping to cut down on waste and protect the Earth.
