Turn off your lights and electronics for Earth Hour
The City of Port Moody encourages residents to turn off unnecessary lights and electronics for this year’s Earth Hour, 8:30 to 9:30pm, on Saturday, March 25, 2017.
Earth Hour is an annual worldwide event designed to conserve energy by encouraging households and businesses to turn off unnecessary lights and electronics for one hour. This event has three goals: encourage collective action to conserve energy, celebrate achievements related to the responsible use of resources, and inspire awareness that will help people take action all year long to conserve energy and reduce their contribution to climate change.
Participating is easy!
And remember, collective efforts can add up to big savings! In 2015, Earth Hour action in Port Moody achieved a one per cent reduction in energy use – energy savings that directly result in money savings. Across the province, 15 megawatt hours of electricity were saved – that’s the equivalent of turning off 680,000 LED light bulbs.
- Sign up online – let the Earth Hour team know you’re taking part;
