Council to consider Zoning Bylaw Amendment on electric vehicle charging infrastructure requirements in new residential and commercial developments
Access to charging at home and on the go is a key factor in the decision to purchase an electric vehicle. The City recognizes that charging infrastructure is a priority in assisting the transition toward zero emission vehicles in Port Moody. The intent of Bylaw Amendment No. 13, 2019, No. 3177 is to amend City of Port Moody Zoning Bylaw No. 2937, 2018 to include electric vehicle charging infrastructure requirements in new residential and commercial developments.
The proposed amendment would require a Level 2 energized outlet for all new residential parking spaces and 20% for all new commercial parking spaces, excluding visitor parking, secondary suites, and new parking spaces servicing existing units.
