Film Night | Julieta
presented by the Port Moody Film Society
February 09, 2018 7:30 PM
After a chance meeting, middle-aged Julieta learns that her long-lost daughter has resurfaced in Madrid. This begins a painful reflection by Julieta into her checkered past, flashing back to the moments that defined her current life. The Spanish master director, Pedro Almodóvar, constructed his film around Julieta’s experiences — love, marriage, motherhood, small-town life — based on a trilogy of linked short stories by the Canadian writer Alice Munro. The mother-daughter bond, fierce and smothering and complicated, lies at the heart of the film.
