Hot Tub and Steam Room closed
Date: October 31, 2018 - March 01, 2019
Hot Tub and Steam Room closed Until Further Notice

Thank you for your patience. Your patronage is important.

The spa renovation has taken longer than anticipated. The timelines previously provided by the contractor did not account for several construction complexities that have surfaced during construction. Once demolition occurred, it became apparent that the project scope was much larger than originally anticipated as a new air handling system was needed. Designing a new air handling system within the current space constraint took time. All the redesign work has been completed and construction of the new air handling system is underway.

The City is working actively with the contractor on completing the work as soon as possible.

While we know the spa downtime has been longer than anticipated when the spa is completed it will have new mechanical equipment, new glass and new finishes.

At this time the following work is being completed:
• Seal to complete air barrier work
• ViaDuct to seal all mechanical ducting penetrations and joints
• Install remainder of pot lights
• Complete mechanical, electrical and fire suppression inspections
• Once inspections are complete installation of ceiling panels will begin

The Hot Tub and Steam Room, located inside the Port Moody Recreation Complex, is closed for renovations until further notice.

We hope you’ll enjoy the planned improvements, including new glass and upgrades to the heating and cooling systems to prevent the windows from steaming up. The work also includes upgrades to the electrical system, new lighting, and a new ceiling.

The improvements to the Hot Tub and Steam Room are part of the City of Port Moody’s Civic Facilities Renewal Project, which involves significant repairs to the building envelopes for three facilities: the Recreation Complex, Civic Centre, and the Port Moody Arts Centre. The renovations are necessary to prevent further deterioration that would lead to higher repair or replacement costs.
