Earth Hour - A Collective Movement Powered by You
Join the City of Port Moody and communities worldwide in turning off unnecessary lights and electronics for this year’s Earth Hour, occurring on Saturday, March 25th from 8:30-9:30 pm.
Earth Hour is an annual worldwide event which encourages households and businesses to turn off unnecessary lights and electronics for one hour on a Saturday in March. This Lights Out event is a moment to encourage collective action to conserve energy, celebrate achievements towards more responsible resource use, and inspire awareness and intention for taking actions all year long.
Participating is easy! Simply,
- Unplug electronics and turn off your lights for at least one hour on Saturday, March 25th from 8:30 to 9:30pm;
- Register your support online;
- Encourage your family, friends and colleagues to also participate, and donate your social media power to further spread the word.
And remember, collective efforts can add up to big savings! Last year, Earth Hour action in Port Moody achieved a 1 % energy reduction – energy savings that directly result in money savings. Across the province, 15 megawatt hours of electricity were saved - the equivalent of turning off 680,000 LED light bulbs.
