Kick off Port Moody’s centennial year at Rocky Point Park on January 1st! Meet your family and friends on the pier for the official Port Moody Centennial photo to be included in our Centennial Time Capsule.

Join in or watch as the brave take to the water for the popular Penguin Plunge. Warm up by the bonfire or in the heated tent with hot chocolate while you browse the Port Moody Station Museum’s display of historical photographs, artifacts and listen to the musical entertainment. Don’t forget to wear a costume! Prizes awarded for Best Silly Hat, Best Team, and Best Original Costume. Free cupcakes, face painting and magic – it’s all here for the first party of the year.

Penguin Plunge registration opens at 11am. Participants receive a commemorative Centennial Penguin Plunge button with registration fee ($5 per person or $10 per family of 4). All proceeds go to Pleasantside Community Association.

Schedule of Events
11am   Hang out in the heated tent or by the bonfire. We’ve got entertainment & a historical display of photos and artefacts courtesy of the Port Moody Station Museum. Registration starts for the Penguin Plunge.
11:30am   Kids can get their faces painted for free. Pick up a complimentary cupcake and a cup of hot chocolate.

Judges select the best costume in the crowd

12:40pm   Mayor Clay addresses the crowd and unveils the Centennial Flag for the first time.
12:50pm    Get in the group photo on the pier for our Centennial Time Capsule.
1pm    Time to jump into the water! The Penguin Plunge starts.
