Residents interested in volunteering for municipal committees, commissions and boards will find their overall purpose, duties and membership requirements listed below. The application period for appointment to 2017 committees is now open.
It should be noted that some changes have recently been made to the Committee System. Terms for all committees have been updated to two years in length, and staggered such that half of each committee is reappointed each year. With the exception of the Library Board, terms will run from September to August; for the transition, the 2017 terms will be 1.5 years (January 2017-August 2018) and 2.5 years (January 2017-August 2019) in length. You will be asked for your preference on the length of term in the application.

The Advisory Design Panel advises the General Manager of Development Services and City Council on design elements of development applications under review by the City.
The Arts and Culture Committee provides Council with advice and recommendations on matters related to arts and culture within the terms of the Council Committee bylaws policy.
The Board of Variance is an avenue for appeal of the interpretation and the strict application of certain local government provisions and regulations in specific circumstances defined in the legislation. It functions separately from the local government that established it and has its own authority under the Community Charter.
The City / CPR Community Advisory Panel provides a forum for the exchange of information between the City of Port Moody and Canadian Pacific Railway.
The Community Planning Advisory Committee provides Council with advice and recommendations on proposed land use changes and related matters.
The Economic Development Committee provides Council with advice and recommendations on strategic economic development directions and related matters within the terms of the Council Committee System Policy.
The Environmental Protection Committee provides Council with advice and recommendations on environmental issues and within the terms of the Council Committee System Policy.
The Heritage Commission acts as an advisory body to Council on matters relating to Port Moody's natural and cultural heritage resources including, heritage buildings, sites and neighbourhoods.
The Library Board is a governance board that provides public library services and programs in Port Moody.
The Parks and Recreation Commission acts as an advisory body to Council regarding the public use and needs of amenities, facilities, programs, and services provided by the Community Services Department.
The Seniors Focus Committee provides Council with advice and recommendations about seniors’ issues, strategies and initiatives.
The Tourism Committee provides Council with advice and recommendations on strategic tourism initiatives and related matters, within the terms of the Council Committee System Policy and the Strategic Plan.
The Youth Focus Committee provides City Council with advice and recommendations on youth issues, strategies and initiatives.
