ZONING BYLAW: New Zoning Bylaw Planned for 2015
The Zoning Bylaw designates all land within the city as a certain zone. Zoning determines what uses are permitted on a particular property and regulates the siting, height and density of buildings. The Zoning Bylaw is intended to reflect the direction provided by the City’s Official Community Plan (OCP).
The current Zoning Bylaw was adopted in 1988 and needs to be updated for ease of use and to reflect prevailing land use policies and trends. The update process was initiated in 2010 and consultation on a first draft occurred in 2012.
The Zoning Bylaw is currently under review until such time as the Official Community Plan update is complete. An updated draft Zoning Bylaw will be introduced at that time for public comment prior to the formal approval process.
The following consultation has already taken place and the feedback received will inform the next updated draft Zoning Bylaw:
Laneway Housing Workshop May 25th, 2011
Heritage Zoning Workshop May 16th, 2011
Three Public Input Sessions March – April 2011
The City of Port Moody will invite the community to comment on the next updated draft Zoning Bylaw in early 2015. Until then, if you have questions or comments about the Zoning Bylaw update please contact the Development Services Department on the second floor, City Hall between 8:30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays or at (604) 469-4540.
