Recycling fast facts

  • Our new automated waste collection supports single stream recycling, which means you don't need to sort items anymore. Mix all your recyclables together in the one cart provided.
  • On your collection day set carts at the curb by 7:30am. Cart lids must close completely.
  • This cart does not have bear locks. All your recyclables should be rinsed of food.
  • If you live in a single-family home or in a townhouse with curbside service, pickup is bi-weekly. If you live in a multi-unit residence with centralized recycling, pickup is weekly. See our calendar for a detailed schedule.
  • If you require an additional recycling cart, email us or call 604.469.4574. Additional recycling carts are free. Pick up your additional carts at the Public Works Yard, 3250 Murray St. (check into the office when you arrive). We're open 7am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Recycling for businesses

The City of Port Moody offers recycling services to local business. We set you up with a 360L cart, then take away your empty plastic bottles, cardboard boxes and used office paper on a weekly basis. You save money. We have a low annual fee, and reducing your garbage reduces your costs. You’ll also save time. Mix all your recyclables together and we’ll take care of the sorting.

Email us, call 604.469.4574 or download and complete this form to set up your office with City-provided recycling collection.

Recycling your electronics

Drop off end-of-life electronics at designated collection sites without charge. Collected electronics are then recycled responsibly.

Accepted items include:

  • Desktop computers
  • Computer monitors
  • Notebook computers
  • Desktop printers and fax machines
  • Televisions

Recycling your small appliances

Starting October 1, 2011, all small appliances including fans, blenders, toasters and hairdryers now must be recycled. Review the full list of items and make sure they stay out of your garbage cart.
