Newport Village residents and businesses were invited to attend an information session on July 25, 2018 from 4–7pm at City Hall (100 Newport Drive) to learn about the Newport Drive Crosswalk Improvements Project. City staff presented design plans, and businesses and residents will have a chance to review display boards and ask questions.
In 2014, plastic posts and temporary accessibility ramps were installed to improve safety at two of the three Newport Drive crosswalks. The City of Port Moody is planning to add concrete curbs at these locations on Newport Drive, and improve safety at the third crosswalk on Newport Drive. This investment in our infrastructure will improve safety for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians, and
help improve walkability in the area.
Construction work for the Newport Drive Crosswalk Improvements Project is planned for early fall and is expected to take four to six weeks to complete.
