Our goal is to limit the amount of dog waste going to the landfill. When in the landfill, dog waste breaks down and produces methane, a powerful greenhouse gas. Dog waste is better dealt with at local waste water treatment plants.
As such, the City of Port Moody has implemented a dog waste collection program. Red bins for dog waste have been set up in various locations throughout the city. The waste is taken to the Iona Island wastewater treatment plant.
The locations of the dog waste bins are:
Bert Flinn Park (Top of Hett Creek Walk way)
Rocky Point off leash Dog Park
2 at Klahanie Dr. & Nootka
Westhill Park (Entrance to Alfred Howe Greenway)
Shoreline Trail (Behind Trasolini Field)
Here's a map showing the locations of the bins.
