city hall easter schedule

UPDATE: On Wednesday, May 24, 2017, a contractor hired by the City will begin on-site preparations for renovations to the Civic Centre, the Recreation Complex, and the Arts Centre. This preparatory work will include set-up of temporary work-site office trailers and fencing in the parking area between the tennis courts and the Civic Centre Amphitheatre, as well as the gravel lot just north of the tennis courts. We apologize for this temporary loss of parking spaces for visitors to our civic facilities. Construction crew vehicles will park at the old fire hall site at Ioco Road and Murray Street, and in the vacant lot at the corner of Kyle Street and St. Andrews Street.
The Civic Centre, Arts Centre, and Recreation Complex will look a little bit different over the next several months, as major renovations will be underway.

The Civic Facilities Renewal Project, approved by Council in 2015, involves significant repairs to the building envelope for all three facilities. The renovations are necessary to prevent further deterioration that would lead to higher repair or replacement costs.

The Civic Centre renovations will include repairs to the roof, brick walls, exterior windows and doors, and several major pieces of equipment that are components of the building’s heating and cooling systems. The Recreation Complex renovations will include roof repairs, the replacement of cladding and soffits, and upgrades to the electrical, heating, and cooling systems for the steam room. The Arts Centre needs a new roof and new exterior stairway, as well as cleaning and painting of the building’s siding.

During the renovations, City business will continue as usual. All three civic facilities will be open, although you’ll notice crews working, and the addition of scaffolding and construction equipment. It’s expected the Civic Centre and Recreation Complex renovations will be completed by spring 2018, and the Arts Centre renovations will be completed by the end of this year.
