Within Port Moody's Community Services Department we have a variety of opportunities for volunteers to help out with our many recreation programs and city wide events.

NEW Volunteer Recreation Ambassador Program
The City of Port Moody’s Volunteer Recreation Ambassador will be a representative of Port Moody’s Community Services. Always armed with energy and a friendly smile, ambassadors will answer questions, help patrons navigate the Recreation Complex, and offer assistance as required.

Volunteer Ambassadors will:
• Proactively meet and greet patrons with a welcome and a smile
• Be able to connect with a variety of ages and demographics
• Assist patrons by directing them to correct staff members, program locations and other amenities
• Be able to answer questions and provide information on recreation facilities and offerings
• Assist staff with general duties as required
• Be able to volunteer on weekdays during daytime hours

Below is an overview of each volunteer area, you may choose to volunteer in as many areas as you would like. 

Recreation Programs for Preschool, Children and Youth
All of our facilities host programs for Preschool, Children and Youth age groups. Volunteers assist staff and provide support to participants in activities that include arts and crafts, sports, dance and special events.

Adults & Senior Recreation Programs
Kyle Centre and the Recreation Complex have programs for adults and seniors. Volunteers assist in various social activities, educational programs and special events.

Aquatics
Swimming lessons and other aquatic programs are available during the summer months only at Rocky Point Pool and Westhill Pool. Qualified volunteers assist staff during swimming lessons and may provide one to one support to participants who need extra help. Other activities include special events and birthday parties.

Ice Sports and Skating
Skating lessons and other arena programs are available at the Recreation Complex Arenas. Qualified volunteers assist staff during skating lessons and may provide one to one support to participants who need extra help. Other activities may include special events and birthday parties.

City Wide Special Events
Sign up to assist at one of the special events and celebrations throughout the year. One of the largest is the annual Car Free Day. Volunteers assist with the set-up and take-down of exhibits, assist with entertainment, food and clean-up.
