We need your help to replace the Rocky Point Park play structure!
Rocky Point Park is a gem in Port Moody. Just 30 km from Vancouver, it’s a destination for many Lower Mainland residents and out-of-town visitors. The park is beloved by preschoolers, summer camp kids, and people spending the day with friends and family.
However, the playground at Rocky Point Park has outgrown our community. It’s also begun to rot far before its anticipated life expectancy. Parts of the playground have been deemed unsafe, and are no longer usable. We’ve even had to remove pieces of equipment due to increasing safety concerns.
This valuable asset promotes community health. We’d like nothing more than to enhance the lives of our residents, providing children and families of all abilities an opportunity to play together. And this is where you come in!
The Parks department is competing for $100,000.00 worth of funding through the Aviva Community Fund, to put towards a new play structure for Rocky Point Park.
The Aviva Community Fund helps passionate people like us make positive change in our community. In order to be the successful recipient of the funding we need your VOTES!
Voting is easy! One you register you have 18 votes you can use at any time from October 11-28 and can vote for the same idea more than once. We're competing with hundreds of other projects across Canada, so we need your help.
You can register and vote here - it only takes a moment! Voting ends October 28!
Our Parks staff got together to make a video that explains the project:
The image below is an example of the type of new play structure we are proposing to build. These structures appeal to kids of all ages and physical abilities.
