Starting in late-July, crews will begin environmental enhancement work on Schoolhouse Creek in Port Moody. Crews will be re-contouring the creek bed and placing gravel, sand, and stumps to enhance the biological diversity of the creek. Crews will also be removing invasive species and planting native trees and shrubs. This will take approximately three months to complete.
While this work is underway, a section of the Trans Canada Trail near Short Street (shown on the map below in red) will be closed starting the week of July 25 for approximately three months. In order to complete this work, the bridge spanning over Schoolhouse Creek will be temporarily removed. Pedestrians and cyclists wishing to access the Trans Canada Trail will be detoured south on Douglas Street to Clarke Street and north on Barnet Highway to access the connector trail shown on the map below (shown in green). This detour route will be well-signed.
