Mayor Mike Clay presents Graham Pawlett with 30 years Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal & the Canadian Volunteer Fire Service Association 30 year Medal.
Graham Pawlette started as a volunteer fire fighter on August 5, 1985. He is the current BC director for the Canadian Volunteer Fire Services Association and for 4 years has been the President of the Canadian Volunteer Fire Services.
The Canadian Volunteer Fire Services Association is a national organization created to benefit the community by maintaining and strengthening Canadian volunteer fire services through the provision of education and training, administration and organizational standards for volunteer firefighter units.
Mr. Pawlett was awarded for the 30 Years Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Fire Service Association 30 year Medal. It honours members of a recognized Canadian fire service who have completed 20 years of service, ten years of which have been served in the performance of duties involving potential risks, and were employed on or after the date of creation of the Medal. Exemplary service is characterized by good conduct, industry and efficiency.
Staying with one job for 30 years is very different than volunteering for a single organization for 30 years. Mr. Pawlett has volunteered his time and efforts for 30 years and we could not be more proud that he has done it for our community. He has performed over 200 hours of unpaid personal-time each and every year; for 30 years, now that is community service to the next level.
Congratulations Mr. Pawlett on these well-deserved awards!
