New Inlet Park Sports Field
As Port Moody has grown, the number of young people and adults playing field sports has also been increasing. The existing gravel-surfaced Inlet Field, which is mainly used for soccer, is poorly drained, and has exceeded its useful life. A modern, lighted, all-weather field has been proposed for a number of years, and such a field at this location would provide a much-improved playing experience, and receive higher use by a wide range of ages.

Kyle Centre was built nearly 40 years ago. Although a popular location, particularly for older adults, the facility is small (11,000 sf), functionally obsolete, and in need of significant physical improvements. There is an opportunity to build a new, larger centre on this site.

The Port Moody Public Library is prominently located in the Civic Centre complex. Since moving there 20 years ago, the surrounding neighbourhood has changed considerably, and library use has grown accordingly. This well-used facility has 300,000+ in-person visits annually, and more than 22,000 active registered borrowers.

Through a 2012 survey, undertaken as part of the Library’s Community Needs Assessment, the need for a larger facility emerged consistently. Since then, the Library Board and City Council have been working together to explore options for the development of a new facility.
