Among the many services the City provides, the Engineering & Operations Department is responsible for the "hidden" services that we have all come to rely on as part of our daily lives, whether at work or play. Otherwise referred to as the City's infrastructure, these services include:
- Ensuring that we have clean and safe drinking water, which is supplied through underground pipes.
- Maintaining a separate system of underground pipes to collect the sewer or waste water for proper treatment prior to discharging it to the environment.
- Providing and maintaining the City's roads, sidewalks, streetlights, signage and lane markings.
- Providing other key services including street cleaning and solid waste collection.
To report a problem, such as a pothole or broken streetlight or other such hazard, please call 604.469.4574
For after-hours emergencies, please call 604.469.4574.

Power lines
If you see a downed, damaged power line or pole dial 911
We want you to be aware of the dangers of fallen power lines and know what to do if you were to come across one. It all comes down to three simple words: 'Down. Danger. Dial.'; meaning if you come across a downed line, consider it a danger, stay back at least 10 metres and dial 911 immediately.
