The Bylaw Division’s mandate is to gain voluntary compliance with Port Moody’s bylaws. If voluntary compliance is not achieved, the appropriate enforcement measures may be taken, up to and including legal action.

The Bylaw Division works in cooperation with the Port Moody Police, Port Moody Fire Rescue, health agencies and property owners to develop plans, strategies, and initiatives in response to direction provided by Council.

Filing a complaint

If you would like Bylaws to investigate an issue, you can file a complaint quickly and easily online, using one of the links below. You can also call 604.469.4697 or email bylaw@portmoody.ca.

File a complaint – 3-hour parking limit (residential) 

File a complaint – any other issue (parking, noise, untidy premises, etc.) 

You will need to provide the following information:

  • The location of the problem;
  • A description of the problem; and
  • Your name, phone number and address.

All information is kept confidential, unless it is required for court purposes.

Bylaws

In Port Moody, a number of bylaws are enforced by the Bylaw Division. Bylaws regulate things such as:

Traffic 
Animal control
Untidy premises
Noise complaints
Unlicenced vehicles
Lawn sprinkling regulations
Zoning 

 

Animal control

Port Moody has contracted with the City of Coquitlam for use of their pound facility, and emergency call-out services. If you are attacked by a dog or wish to report a dog at large, call the bylaw line 604.469.4697, or email bylaw@portmoody.ca, 7am-5pm, Monday through Sunday 7am-5pm.

If you are bitten by a dog, or have contained a stray dog after regular bylaw services hours, please call the Port Moody Police at 604.461.3456. They will determine whether to utilize Coquitlam emergency call-out services.

If you have a concern about a lost pet, call the Coquitlam Animal Shelter at 604.927.7386. The shelter is located at 500 Mariner Way, Coquitlam, BC. Turn west off Mariner on Service Centre Road, just north of Austin Road.
