The City of Port Moody's Good Neighbour Guidelines provide residents with a summary of common sense practices to encourage thoughtful planning and considerate behaviour in the community. The guidelines have been prepared to advise residents, business owners and services providers of their rights and responsibilities, and includes a summary of applicable municipal regulations and bylaws in the following areas:
- Property development and building permits
Encourages owners to talk to neighbours about how their project might impact the neighbourhood (ie. view corridors). It outlines information and bylaws related to designing a new home or addition, constructing an accessory building, demolishing an existing structure, building decks, fences and retaining walls, and the new neighbourhood feedback process.
- On and around your property
Highlights regulations on unsightly properties, parking regulations, noise levels, stream and tree protection, sidewalk maintenance, managing wildlife, and suggestions about helping out neighbours during times of need.
- Responsible pet ownership
Provides a summary of regulations on licensing, lost pets, pets in public places, cleaning up after your pet, and nuisances such as excessive barking.
