Hydrant Use Application Process
There have been some changes to our Hydrant use application process. This new guideline will help to streamline the process and ensure the inspection fee and deposit is in the hands of finance.

  1. Applicant will complete the Hydrant use Permit application (from our website or by coming to the works yard) and return it to the works yard for approval.
  2. The Utilities division and/or Water Quality Technician will review the information and contact the applicant by phone within 24 hrs to approve or reject the application.
  3. The applicant will be directed to City Hall Finance department to receive the permit and pay the $200 Inspection fee and $600 refundable deposit.
  4. The applicant will have a choice for method of payment on refund, either by:
    a. EFT – Electronic Funds Transfer – providing the Finance Dept with a void cheque
    b. City of Port Moody Cheque – pick up at Finance Dept
    c. City of Port Moody Cheque – mailed to applicant
  5. Applicant will contact Utilities Superintendent to advise the hydrant use has been completed and inspection will be scheduled.
  6. After Utilities have inspected the hydrant for damages, they will contact applicant and complete the “Water Purchase Deposit Release Requisition” form and send it to Finance for processing. The applicant will be directed to finance to receive refund.

Access Use Application Process:

Guidelines for application are as follows:

  1. Residents must complete a Request for Access Use Permit form. (Either from our website or at the Works Yard - reception desk)
  2. Public Works Yard will process a Service Request for inspection of the access road/lane for this application
  3. The Roads & Drainage supervisor will review the information and approve/disapprove
  4. Please allow a minimum of 24 hrs for approval
  5. Upon approval, the applicant will be notified by phone, issued a copy of the approved application and directed to the Finance Dept. at City Hall to pay both the fee $56.00 and refundable damage deposit $200.00 (please ensure they show their copy when paying) Payment method accepted, Cheque, Cash, Debit or Credit
  6. Applicant will produce receipt and pick up the key at the Works Yard reception desk
  7. PLEASE NOTE: It is the applicant’s responsibility to return the key to the Public Works Yard and to advise the access use has been completed. Upon notification, an inspection for damages will be scheduled.
  8. Once the inspection is completed and approved, a refund will be processed
  9. The applicant will have a choice for method of payment on refund, either by:
    a) EFT – Electronic Funds Transfer – providing the Finance Dept. with a void cheque
    b) City of Port Moody Cheque – pick up at Finance Dept.
    c) City of Port Moody Cheque – mailed to applicant

    PLEASE NOTE – No Refunds to Credit Cards or Debit Cards
  10. The “Access Use Deposit Requisition” form will be completed at the Works Yard and sent to Finance for processing
