City's Achievements In 2013

The City of Port Moody has also taken significant action on reducing energy consumption and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions.

Recent actions taken to reduce corporate energy consumption and GHG emissions in 2013 include:

  • Upgrading all exterior building mounted lights to LEDs for the Heritage Mountain Community Centre to reduce energy use and associated emissions;

  • Implementing sustainable building design requirements for the new Fire Hall, which included energy efficient systems for heating and LEDs for all external lighting; and

  • Purchasing electric vehicles for Bylaw Enforcements and installing electric vehicle charging stations for corporate and community use.
As the result of the City’s actions, we are pleased to announce that the City has achieved carbon neutrality in its civic operations for 2013! Check out our 2013 Climate Action Report to learn more about what the City has done in 2013 and our plans in 2014.
